Treatment
What happens when I go for treatment?
The majority of hypnotherapy sessions are very pleasant and relaxing treatments where you can experience a really deep and satisfying level of relaxation. For some people, these sessions will comprise of talking therapy/psychotherapy and for others hypnotherapy and/or NLP, whichever Caroline feels is most appropriate to help you. Sometimes a combination of both during a course of treatment can give you optimum healing.
The first session will last for approximately 90 minutes (some sessions last for up to 2.5 hours (e.g. smoking)) and will consist of a thorough discussion of your situation or condition in order to establish the best course of treatment for you. If there is time (which there usually is), Caroline will get to work straight away on your treatment and you will leave the session feeling relaxed and refreshed.
How long will the treatment take to be effective?
Some conditions can be resolved very quickly, depending on the individual's response and the therapist's knowledge and techniques. For example, many people can respond to giving up smoking in one session and never touch another cigarette again, whereas others may take three or four sessions, or maybe more. Other conditions may take longer to resolve as they may be more complex. You will get a feel for it and Caroline will discuss it with you as you go along. Other issues sometimes arise which may be affecting your current condition although may appear to be totally unrelated.
How long is each session?
There is an initial session of 90 minutes as mentioned above. Caroline will advise whether 60 minute or 90 minute follow up sessions are appropriate for your condition.
How will I become hypnotised?
There are a variety of induction techniques that can be used to get you into a lovely relaxed state. Ideally, we are looking to relax your mind and your body to give the treatment as much chance of success as possible. Caroline will find a technique that works best for you and with your cooperation, you will find yourself in a pleasant state of relaxation.
Can I be made to do anything against my beliefs?
Absolutely not. Even if any hypnotherapist tried, it probably wouldn't be accepted by your subconscious mind anyway. You are in full control at all times. You cannot be made to do something you do not wish to do or is against your beliefs.
What happens in the session?
After the initial discussion, treatment will begin by focussing on getting you into a deep state of relaxation and talking to your subconscious mind using direct or indirect suggestions and providing appropriate guidance. Depending on the condition, sometimes there is a need to take you back to an earlier event in this life or a previous life, that may be having an effect on your life today, that needs resolving.
What happens if I get stuck in a state of hypnosis?
Impossible. We all naturally go in and out of states of hypnosis all day long. Can you remember a time when you drove from A to B and forgot how you got there? You were probably in a state of hypnosis then. At the end of a session, you will be able to return to a state of feeling alert easily and effortlessly with Caroline's help and will find yourself feeling relaxed and refreshed.
I don't relax easily, can I still have hypnotherapy?
Most definitely, yes! There are a variety of induction techniques to help you to relax and Caroline's gentle soothing approach will use a combination of these to assist you to relax more easily. Sometimes, relaxation isn't always needed for hypnotherapy to be successful, it just enhances the success rate. Occasionally, you may need a couple of sessions to allow yourself the opportunity to unwind and relax thoroughly before treatment can really begin in earnest. Caroline can teach you techniques for you to do at home to assist you to relax more easily.
A friend of mine went for hypnotherapy and she was given a CD
There is a need with some courses of treatment that the suggestions given are reinforced after the session to ensure the mind fully embeds the change. This isn't appropriate for every treatment but where it is Caroline will record a CD for you to listen to. It is important that you do not listen to it whilst driving, operating any machinery or lying in a bath, as it will contain hypnotic suggestions. This CD will be included within your session price. MP3 format is also available, if preferred.
